The Building Official issues building permits and conducts building inspections. A permit is required for any owner or authorized agent (contractor) who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, renovate, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system.
Building & Zoning staff support the city’s mission by administering the city’s ordinances, including:
Subdivision and Development Regulations
Zoning Ordinance
Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Ordinance
Land Use Ordinance
Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance
Nuisance Control Ordinance
Property Maintenance Ordinance
Additional services include maintaining zoning records and Subdivision Plats, issuing addresses, rezoning of property, LDA permits, Development Plan review, and Encroachment permits.
